Spotlight on Vitamin D
Show Notes

According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics (2011/12) one in four Australian adults are vitamin D deficient. How can this be when we live in one of the sunniest places in the world? Furthermore what sort of health complications and risks arise when this all important nutrient is depleted?

In this episode of The Nourished Wrap Katie and Jessica explore the wonderful world of vitamin D aka the sunshine vitamin! It's common knowledge that humans need sun exposure to make vitamin D but did you know there is a lot more to it than this? Did you know that vitamin D is critical for so much more than just strong bones? Vitamin D receptors are found all over the body and therefore effect everything from fertility to immunity to gut health to sleep. Katie and Jess discuss all of these areas and also look into the research there is surrounding vitamin D and health.

Most importantly the ladies provide information on food sources and other ways of maintaining vitamin D status, how much sun exposure is required, what testing reveals as well as signs and symptoms of vitamin D deficiencies. We hope you enjoy the show and learn something new!
